The city of Fairfax’s beloved Fall Festival is one of those events that locals look forward to every single year. Now in its 43rd year, this local celebration is one of the community’s most reliable harbingers of fall. This year the festival is scheduled for Saturday, October 12, and promises to be bigger and better than ever before. 25,000 people are expected to attend, and there will be more than 30 different food vendors on hand to feed everyone, serving everything from crispy golden tater tots, to jerk chicken, to cinnamon-dusted churros, and more. Artisan booths lining the streets provide an opportunity to do a bit of shopping (or at least browsing), while the entertainment stage allows you to sit back and enjoy the live musical performances.
Be aware that parking is limited in historical downtown Fairfax, and event organizers are encouraging all festival-goers to take advantage of the free shuttle buses running continuously from George Mason University and Fairfax High School.
