Black Friday shopping can be a lot of fun, but it can also be a bit overwhelming. This year, consider taking a break from retail pursuits and heading over to the 28th Annual Reston Holiday Parade on November 29. The parade, which begins at 11 a.m., features giant character balloons, decorated floats, marching bands, dancing troupes, and more. But the fun doesn’t stop once the parade passes by, as there’s a whole day of festive activities to follow. Kids will enjoy photo ops with Mr. and Mrs. Claus all afternoon, as well as mini-train rides, street entertainers, and snacks from food trucks and other vendors.
At 6 p.m. everyone will gather in Fountain Square for the official city tree lighting ceremony and sing-along, and then for the rest of the evening you’ll be able to enjoy horse-drawn carriage rides, ice skating, and more. It’s a fun way to kick off the holiday season with friends and family.
